Oh, god... I did this even though there's about houndred other tutorial about same thing in dA... OTL
There are as many ways to do this as there are artist's.

Anyway, this is just a little walkthrough how I design my character's appearance.

I love to draw clothes but I never really noticed how where the seams are placed can make a big difference but it does!

A thing I like to do is watch old animated movies to see how the designers differentiate between the clothes and body. I like to watch them over and over again, picking up on new things I didn't notice as a kid (like this person wears a belt, or this girl wore tights under her dress) that sort of thing. :>

I know right! It's kinda hard to imagine but when you actually try playing with the seams it's easy to tell how different thay make the clothes seem 8D

Oh! I do that, too. It's great way to pick up ideas.
